Quick Answers

What is a Seeker?

Seeker is someone who posts the everyday tasks they’d rather not carry alone—organizing, errands, simple home touches. They choose who helps, when it happens, and how it gets done. Delegating here is smart, not lazy—it’s how you get time back for what matters.

What is a Helper?

A Helper is a capable neighbor who steps in for quick, light work—organizing, errands, kid-gear resets, and small fixes. They bring reliability, clear communication, and respect for your home. It’s flexible, meaningful work that turns spare hours into real help.

What kind of help does Better Hour offer?

Better Hour supports quick, light work that frees up time—think organizing (pantry, playroom, closets), simple errands (returns, donations), and small home projects (hanging frames, swapping air filters/bulbs). It also covers kid-gear refreshes, laundry resets, and porch/yard tidy-ups. No heavy tools, tall ladders, deep cleaning, or skilled trades—just practical help done with care.

What kind of help does Better Hour NOT offer?

Better Hour Helpers focus on light work only—not heavy or hazardous jobs. That means no heavy tools or power washing, no tall ladders or deep-clean marathons, and no skilled trades like electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, roofing, or pest control. They also skip large furniture moves, demolition, long paint jobs, or anything requiring a license or permit. Seekers are expected to supply consumables (filters, bulbs, labels, cleaners).

What are Better Hour's fees?

We charge Helpers a one-time $15 onboarding fee to cover the cost of a background check and account activation.

For transactions, we use a split model: Seekers pay a flat $4.95 booking fee and Helpers pay 8%, deducted from their payout. For example, on a $25/hr, 2-hour booking, the Seeker pays $50 + $4.95, and the Helper receives $50 – 8% = $46.00 (before standard card processing fees).

What do these fees cover?

Fees help fund trust & safety, customer support, secure payments (Stripe), and ongoing product/hosting so everything stays reliable—profiles, reviews, receipts, and dispute support.

Will fees change?

Possibly. As we learn and grow, we may adjust fees. If we do, we’ll keep them clear and fair and notify you before changes take effect.

Are Helpers background checked?

Yes. Every Helper must complete and pass a background screen through our third‑party provider, Checkr, Inc., before publishing a listing or accepting a booking.

What do background checks include?

Checkr’s Basic search includes:

SSN Trace & aliases – Validates identity history and finds prior names/addresses tied to the Social Security number provided.

Sex Offender Registry search – Checks all 50 states’ registries for matches.

Global Watchlist search – Screens against international and U.S. government watchlists and sanctions lists.

National Criminal Database search – Scans multi‑jurisdictional databases for possible criminal records.
